I often recall the days when I would walk into my newsroom at 5:00 AM, as an Associate Producer at CBS News, grab the newspaper, and sit down at my desk, browsing through the compelling news stories of the day. This is called “Read In”, where a producer is assigned to read the morning news headlines, and send an email out to the entire staff with story highlights from the day. Many of the headlines were political, related to breaking news (“Tornadoes In The Midwest Leave 7 Dead”), international news, and more.
