Reflections On Nardi Media’s Values As We Celebrate 6th Year In Business In 2021

I think we can all agree that 2020 was one of the toughest years for all of us. When I look back on it, the past year was hard for me as a mom, as a business owner, and as a wife – and I know I’m not alone when I say that. Our country faced a worldwide health crisis, political unrest, racial injustice, coupled with the stress navigating virtual learning and education at home. It often felt like there wasn’t a light at the end of the tunnel, and even now, there often doesn’t feel like we have an end in sight to this turmoil.

Even the beginning of 2021 has been challenging, as our country feels more divided than ever. But one thing I know for sure is that 2020 taught us many lessons, and those lessons will carry on with us into a new year.

As I reflect on the past year and look ahead to 2021, it’s now more than ever that I think about Nardi Media’s values that make us who we are. This month, Nardi Media will celebrate six years of business, and I’ve spent time reflecting on what that means, and where we are headed.

Nardi Media was born out of my children’s playroom in the same small townhouse where we started our family, and in retrospect, this makes perfect sense. I launched my business so I could spend more time with my family on my terms, and at the same time, serve my clients with my best effort and enthusiasm. Family is extremely important to me, and it’s only fitting that I consider Nardi Media to be my 4th child, and not to mention, an extension of my family through our amazing team! We’ve become more tight-knit than ever by overcoming the challenges of 2020 and continuing to do great work together for our clients.

The great work we do each day in helping our clients take their message to the masses through the media, our “why”, and the standards we hold ourselves to is a reflection of our core values.

As we enter 2021 and celebrate six years of business, I feel it is important to share what makes Nardi Media what it is – a powerful media relations firm that feels like “family” to each other, our clients, and members of the media. Here are our core values that I have reflected upon and will continue to serve our team, our clients, and beyond in 2021:

Our clients come first, and we are dedicated to delivering five-star customer service. We listen to them, we see them, and we hear them on all levels. We have an exceptional understanding of our clients and know their brands inside and out, allowing us to deliver their message to the masses in the best way possible.

We understand the essence of time and are forward-thinking in the way we communicate with the press and pitch our clients. We understand that urgency is a value that can quickly elevate the benefits of our clients’ experience, and we work diligently to stay on top of the news cycle and our clients’ subject matter to find topics to position them as thought-leaders in trending storylines.

We love our work and are so proud of what we do in helping share peoples’ messages with the world through the power of the media. We are our clients’ biggest and best cheerleaders and are dedicated to helping them feel supported and loved along every step of the way of their campaigns.

We are dedicated to our jobs but also value the time we have away from our work to spend with our loved ones in order to refresh and foster relationships around us, both professionally and personally.

We work hard to keep the lines of communication between colleagues, clients, and members of the press open, honest, kind, timely, professional, and respectful.

We are creative and innovative in our writing style and media outreach to ensure our clients’ messages are being heard. We handle each pitch as an individual opportunity and develop a unique approach to connect with our media contacts directly with relevant and thought-provoking interview opportunities.

We are true to our word, take full ownership of our process and take our responsibilities very seriously for all of our clients. Trust is of the utmost importance and we will do whatever it takes to ensure that trust is not broken.

We value people of all colors and backgrounds. In an effort to better educate ourselves on racial injustice and create an open forum for meaningful conversations with friends, neighbors, and mentors of all colors, Nardi Media launched a Black Lives Matter Book Club in June. The goal of this book club is to increase our understanding and awareness of racism and anti-racism through the power of one of the earliest mediums of storytelling, with the hope that by educating ourselves, we will be better equipped to spark a wave of change in our communities, with our family, our clients, and across our country.

These core values embody who we are at Nardi Media. I’m so proud of how far we’ve come as a business in these past six years and I can’t wait to continue the amazing work in 2021.

"The biggest piece of advice a first-time author is given is to “hire your own publicist,” but what they don’t tell you is to “hire your own Ashley.”  Looking back, I don’t know how I could have released my book without Ashley & her team.  We started working together before the book was published.  First local TV and small blogs and as I got more seasoned and the book got closer to coming, she booked me appearances on bigger and bigger outlets.

“I am so pleased that Ashley is embarking on this new venture. For many years she has shined as an outstanding booker and producer at CBS News and at start-ups including Clean Skies News.  She was my first hire at Clean Skies, and was the shining star among the pack. She has always had  tremendous dedication to her work, and an untiring ability to accomplish whatever faces her, letting no obstacle stand in the way of an outstanding product.  She consistently goes above and beyond expectations, and never takes “no” as an answer, and never settles for less than outstanding. I would hire Ashley again. And again. And again.”

“Ashley and I have worked together is a few different capacities, including CBS News, energyNOW!. I cannot say enough good things about her. Ashley is smart, thorough, quick, creative, and incredibly hard working. Most importantly, to be a successful media liaison and guest booker, relationships are everything. Ashley is a genuinely lovely person, and she wins the respect and trust of everyone she works with. She is the first person I call whenever I need a guest booker or segment producer.”

Energy Journalist & Analyst

“Ashley Bernardi is a dynamic professional who consistently produces excellent results.  In my three years working with Ashley as the head booker at Clean Skies News/EnergyNOW!, I never saw her fail to complete a job she had been assigned – and complete it admirably. Ashley is creative, energetic and goal-oriented, a true team player who works congenially with other professionals but can also be relied on to execute an assignment on her own. Ashley is the person I wanted on my team when I faced a challenging assignment!”

“Ashley is hands down the best media trainer I’ve ever worked with, and she uses her considerable producing experience to make clients feel at ease and ready to learn. In addition, her ability to book clients on television and radio interviews is quite impressive – be ready for hours of interviews if you’re working with her!”

Mary Jordan

“There is nothing Ashley Bernardi cannot do when it comes to media.  She books top people for TV shows and national conferences and knows the business inside out. I worked closely with Ashley at the Washington Post  and she is not only savvy, but great to be around. She is the always cheerful, smart voice on the other end of the phone who persuades busy people to drop everything they are doing and do what Ashley tells them.”

“I was a relatively unknown first-time author and Ashley was fantastic in getting my name out there, and ultimately booking me on national TV and radio, as well as major podcasts. She also provided top-notch media training and was always a great listener and advisor. Finally, she was on top of everything and we communicated constantly. I couldn’t have been happier about her efforts on behalf of my book launch!”
